Overview
Cherry Ward functions as an 18‑bed mixed‑sex acute ward for adults of working age (18–65 yrs). The ward successfully opened in the midst of the COVID‑19 pandemic and since opening, our well‑developed, diverse and high‑achieving nursing team has received high praise. Cherry Ward takes pride on being a therapies‑driven acute inpatient ward where we focus on utilising least restrictive therapeutic approaches to caring for our service users.
The ward works closely with other inpatient wards to facilitate treatment on both the AWP Callington Road Hospital site and other units across the locality. Working on Cherry Ward provides you with a wealth of learning opportunities to develop new skills in working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health problems.
Main Duties

- Take on lead roles to support the development of the team and service delivery, and seek additional training opportunities (e.g., learning disabilities, dual diagnosis, further professional and academic development).
