Job Description:

SC Clearance required

A leading organisation delivering large-scale digital identity and trust services is looking for a Quality Assurance Cryptography Specialist to join a high-impact programme.

You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to shape cryptographic standards and assurance across a modern wallet and trust ecosystem, with a strong focus on PKI and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) readiness.

The role

You will be responsible for defining, governing and assuring cryptographic approaches at protocol level, ensuring solutions remain secure, interoperable and future-proof.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and assure cryptographic standards, PKI lifecycle controls, and PQC strategy at the protocol level.
  • Provide expert guidance on applied cryptography across a wallet ecosystem.
  • Design and assure device-bound PKI used by mobile applications.
  • Provide cryptographic governance for internal PKI and trust service patterns (e.g., issuer signing keys, API-level certificate authentication) that are distinct from WebPKI/browser trust anchors.
  • Lead post-quantum transition planning, ensuring cryptographic controls remain robust and interoperable across the wider trust ecosystem.
  • Advise on ECC, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), secure key storage (TEE/SE, HSMs), and protocol-level cryptographic correctness.
  • Track and interpret emerging standards and protocol changes, translating them into a clear cryptographic roadmap.

What we’re looking for

  • Deep expertise in applied cryptography, PKI, and protocol assurance in real-world systems.
  • Proven experience designing cryptographic controls for mobile and/or wallet environments (device binding, key protection, trust models).
  • Strong understanding of PQC developments and transition considerations (interoperability, hybrid approaches, lifecycle impact).
  • Ability to provide pragmatic governance, assurance, and technical leadership across stakeholders.
