Morson Edge is working with a tier 1 contractor to recruit a Senior Design Engineer for their Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering division.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to lead and carry out detailed structural design and checking of temporary works and permanent works for civil engineering, and to provide technical support to design assist with operational activities.

Essential Qualifications

• Previous experience in the structural engineering field, including detailed design of structures (permanent or temporary works) using frame analysis software, structural design software and CAD for design purposes and sketches.
• Ability to carry out calculations by hand or in software such as MathCAD.
• Working knowledge of relevant industry specifications (Eurocodes, BS 5975 and other BS standards for structural design).
• Experience in a structural engineering office carrying out design calculations, analysis and following or developing structural methodology, and overseeing other team members.
• Degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of structural principles.
• Knowledge of construction processes, methods, etc.
• Ensures designs meet performance, safety, quality and cost requirements.
• Good team worker who can coach others and exercise independent judgement.
• Effective communicator able to assert own view.
• Ability to identify structural suitability and critical load cases.

Desirable

• Mix of site and design office experience.
• Incorporated or Chartered membership, or equivalent, with a relevant professional institution (or en route to achieving such a qualification).
• CSCS card.
