Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult Acute (Male Ward)

Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a male acute inpatient service within a well‑resourced hospital environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with patients experiencing acute mental health crises, providing rapid assessment, stabilisation, and recovery‑focused interventions.

Salary: £172,000Position: Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult AcuteHours: Full Time – 1 day WFHSetting: 12‑bed male acute inpatient wardLocation: Stockport

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical care for patients in an acute inpatient setting
• Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
• Conduct ward rounds and multidisciplinary reviews
• Develop and oversee acute treatment plans
• Support safe admissions and discharge planning
• Provide risk assessments and crisis management
• Contribute to service development and governance

Qualifications

• GMC registration with licence to practise
• Ideally CCT – may consider equivalent consultant experience
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status preferred
• Experience in inpatient or complex mental health settings
