SD-WAN Solution Architect – 6 month contract / Hybrid Location: London

Join Smart DCC as an SD-WAN Solution Architect and play a critical role in shaping secure, scalable, and high‑performing network solutions that support the UK’s smart energy infrastructure. This is a high‑impact role where you will act as a design authority, leading complex SD‑WAN architecture across cloud, on‑premise, and hybrid environments while influencing key stakeholders and driving technical excellence.
How you will contribute to transforming the smart energy network and shaping the future
- Act as the SD‑WAN Design Authority, ensuring all solutions meet standards across resilience, security, scalability and performance
- Lead the end‑to‑end design and assurance of SD‑WAN architectures, including integration across cloud (Azure/AWS), on‑premise and hybrid environments
- Provide technical oversight and assurance across vendors and delivery partners, ensuring alignment to architectural standards and business outcomes
- Manage technical risks, dependencies and integration challenges across SD‑WAN and network connectivity solutions
- Drive continuous improvement through standardisation, automation and adoption of best practices across network architecture
What you need to bring
- Proven experience designing and delivering SD‑WAN solutions (ideally Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN) across enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of network technologies including TCP/IP, routing, security appliances (e.g. WAF, Palo Alto, F5) and cloud connectivity (Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect)
- Experience acting as a technical authority or lead across end‑to‑end network and connectivity delivery
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and clearly communicate complex technical concepts
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security and compliance (e.g. TOGAF, GDPR, ISO27001) and high‑availability design
