Chelmsford, Essex | £90,000 + £8,000 car allowance + bonus

A growing, ambitious housebuilder in Chelmsford is looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to bring rigour, pace and commercial insight to a busy finance function.

If you enjoy building strong processes, partnering with ops, and helping a business scale — this is one with real influence and visibility.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning the month‑end close, management accounts and board reporting
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
• Strengthening financial controls, processes and reporting cadence
• Partnering with construction and commercial teams to drive performance
• Overseeing audit, statutory accounts, VAT/CIS and compliance
• Developing and mentoring the team as the business grows

What we’re looking for

• Strong technical grounding + commercial mindset
• Experience in housebuilding / construction / property / projects (ideal)
• Confident stakeholder management — you can challenge constructively
• Comfortable improving systems, controls and ways of working
