Job Summary
Exciting opportunities for Clinical Nurse Specialists have arisen within the Breast Reconstruction Service. The service is provided across QEHB, Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals according to service need. We are seeking a nurse with post‑registration experience in relevant specialities, including wound care, capable of supporting plastics consultants and patients across multiple sites in the Trust. The successful candidate is reliable, works well in a team, demonstrates empathy and excellent interpersonal skills, and brings a flexible and positive approach to working. The role requires working independently with the wider multidisciplinary team and managing stressful situations effectively. One full‑time (37.5 hours) permanent post and one part‑time (18.75 hours) 12‑month fixed‑term post are available.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- Implementation of care for patients undergoing breast reconstruction in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Expert wound care.
- Provide expertise, support, advice and education to health care professionals, patients and carers; act as a role model.
- Assist consultant plastic surgeons at various locations.
- Improve and maintain knowledge, competence and skill levels whilst ensuring high quality, holistic, patient‑centred care.
- Liaise and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Provide support and teaching as required.
- Provide psychological support and information associated with altered body image.
- Assist with planning and implementation of nurse‑led clinics.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Portfolio of certified / accredited post‑registration professional development.
Desirable
- Health Assessment post‑graduate qualification or willingness to work towards one.

- Post‑registration experience with evidence of knowledge and development for the associated area of specialist practice.
- In‑depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for the role, with willingness to undertake further training or education to achieve agreed competence.
- Knowledge of standards and policies associated with the role.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary and cross‑agency environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of national / NHSE diagnostic/therapeutic expectations and strategy around endoscopy services, and ability to relate this to the role.
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance and patient safety processes, and ability to apply this to personal/professional accountability.
