What’s the role?

Bloomberg’s Chief Risk Office (CRO) Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations worldwide. The team focuses on risk management across regulated and non-regulated products and services, providing risk frameworks, processes, tools, training, and advisory services to businesses and departments. The CRO collaborates with Legal and Compliance, Finance, Operational Resilience, and Internal Audit, and is responsible for risk reporting to senior management.

We’ll Trust You To

  • Monitor and analyze risks within our Engineering areas.
  • Work closely with Engineering stakeholders to conduct in‑depth analysis of key processes, including documentation of process flows, policy and procedure review, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Operate as an educator and partner by facilitating First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk execution and partnering on Risk Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA) training efforts.
  • Challenge FLOD on risk identification and mitigation, and on the adequacy of controls.
  • Communicate gaps from risk assessments to relevant colleagues and assist with remediation.
  • Support the design and build of an enhanced RCSA process including data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze risk data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise and knowledge of relevant risk trends.
  • Ensure the integrity, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of risk data, and drive risk programs.
  • Stay informed on risk industry developments and educational opportunities.
  • Use Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools for evidence of risk management, monitoring, measurement, and reporting.
  • Follow up on gaps, incidents, and remediation plans that require action from respective business units.

You’ll Need To Have

  • 6–7 years of experience in risk management focused on technology risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Experience in risk management, audit or compliance related to technology risk or cyber security.
  • Good understanding of technology infrastructure, application operations and controls.
  • Strong collaboration skills to guide organizational change and partner with senior management and staff.
  • Proven intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree or professional impact.
  • Understanding of industry best practices such as NIST, CSF, CIS, COSO or other risk frameworks.
  • Prior experience in a first or second line of defense capacity.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and maintain a positive work attitude.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and ability to deliver work on schedule.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to act decisively and independently to resolve sophisticated issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with efficiency in operating across multiple levels.
  • Enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
