Compensation: Up to £160,000 Base + Bonus

Overview
A Tier 1 investment bank is seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a rapidly growing front‑office eTrading team. This role sits at the heart of the trading floor, where technology is a key revenue driver, and offers the opportunity to design and build mission‑critical trading applications used directly by traders and investment teams. The Role
As a Java Software Engineer, you will take a leading role in the design and development of high‑performance front‑office trading systems, contributing directly to the bank’s electronic trading and investment platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Designing and developing high‑performance Java applications from the ground up
- Building and enhancing front‑office eTrading systems used in live markets
- Working closely with traders, product owners, and other front‑office technology teams
- Applying best‑in‑class engineering standards, including clean architecture and TDD
- Contributing to technical leadership and driving engineering best practices across the team

Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a STEM discipline
- 4+ years’ experience in software engineering or a closely related role
- Strong expertise as a Java Software Engineer
- Proven experience working in a front‑office environment
- Experience with modern development practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure front‑office setting
