Senior DevOps Engineer
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team, leveraging strong DevOps and Platform Engineering expertise to design and implement infrastructure and configuration as code. The role involves diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, addressing technical debt, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing ways of working to deliver high‑quality, reliable software solutions that create meaningful value for our customers.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and delivering scalable, well‑architected, and maintainable solutions, proactively resolving complex end‑to‑end issues and introducing innovative approaches to maximise customer value
- Defining and implementing robust automated testing strategies, covering both functional and non‑functional requirements to ensure consistently high‑quality outcomes
- Leading and contributing to code reviews, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, best practices, and both functional and non‑functional requirements
- Owning and driving security assurance across team deliverables, embedding best practices to safeguard company and customer data
- Leveraging performance metrics and insights to drive continuous improvement in deployment, monitoring, and operational processes, ensuring resilient and high‑performing systems
- Championing continuous improvement by enhancing team processes, rituals, and culture to maintain productivity, collaboration, and effectiveness
- Managing, motivating, and developing team members through coaching and mentorship, supporting professional growth, removing blockers, and strengthening team capability
- Promoting and ensuring a customer‑centric approach, aligning all solutions and interactions with the principles of delivering excellent and fair customer outcomes
Who we’re looking for
- Degree‑level qualification in a technology‑related discipline is preferred; however, equivalent practical experience will be considered
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including cloud infrastructure, core services, networking, identity management (Azure AD, RBAC), and security tools such as Azure Security Centre and Monitor
- Proven experience with infrastructure automation and provisioning tools, particularly Terraform, alongside familiarity with alternatives such as ARM, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
- Hands‑on experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred), as well as associated tooling such as Helm or Kustomize
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Bash, Python, Ansible), with a focus on improving efficiency and managing repetitive tasks
- Solid understanding of cloud security, vulnerability scanning, testing tools for infrastructure‑as‑code, and best practices in secure configuration and capacity planning
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, optimised solutions, alongside strong problem‑solving and debugging skills in complex environments
- Experience working in Agile environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively within teams, demonstrate technical leadership or mentoring, and maintain clear documentation and governance standards
