About the Role
Our client, an engineering organisation developing embedded ECU platforms, is seeking a BSW MCAL / Autosar Architect to define, maintain, and evolve a reusable AUTOSAR Classic MCAL and low-level BSW foundation across multiple ECU products.
This role serves as the long-term technical owner of the MCAL and low-level software platform, with responsibility for architecture decisions, consistency, scalability, safety alignment, and efficient reuse across programs and customer-specific variants.
MCAL & BSW Platform Architecture
- Define, implement, and maintain an internal AUTOSAR Classic MCAL and low-level BSW / CDD platform
- Establish platform-wide configuration strategies, abstraction concepts, and reuse models
- Lead MCAL integration and optimization for target microcontrollers (e.g. Infineon AURIX, NXP S32, TI)
- Define and maintain internal standards for low-level drivers, hardware abstraction, and CDD usage
- Act as the technical owner for MCU peripherals, including interrupts, DMA, timers, and related safety mechanisms
- Guide platform roadmap decisions in alignment with system, hardware, and product needs
- Enable multiple ECU programs to share a common, well-documented BSW foundation
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to BSW and application engineers
CDD, Safety & Real-Time Governance
- Own and evolve the internal Complex Device Driver (CDD) framework
- Own platform integration of MCAL drivers: ADC, SPI, DMA, ICU, IPC, SBC, and related modules
- Support functional safety activities through reusable platform artifacts and design patterns
- Define platform-level execution and scheduling models for interrupts, DMA usage, and timing behavior
- Ensure deterministic real-time performance across all products using the platform
- Define and own the MCAL/BSW validation strategy
- Ensure consistent application of static analysis, MISRA compliance, and coverage metrics
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as an AUTOSAR Classic MCAL Architect, BSW Architect, or Platform Owner
- Strong hands-on experience with Infineon, NXP, and/or TI microcontrollers
- Deep technical expertise in MCAL drivers, CDD integration, and low-level embedded software
- Experience designing and maintaining reusable embedded software platforms across multiple ECU products
- Understanding of ISO 26262 and ASPICE in a platform or architecture context is beneficial
- Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to drive topics independently and collaboratively
