Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist (0.6 WTE)
We are seeking a Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist to join the Mental Health Treatment Requirements (MHTR) Team at Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. The role is part of one of five national pilot sites and involves providing psychological assessment, therapy, and supervision within a multidisciplinary team for clients with complex mental health needs and forensic histories.
Job Responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Conduct specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the MHTR, integrating data from clinical, risk, and self‑report measures.
- Deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions and manage a caseload of individuals with complex mental health presentations and trauma histories.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision of junior staff and contribute to service development, audit, policy, and research initiatives.
- Collaborate with probation officers, court staff, and other criminal‑justice stakeholders in regular meetings.
- Maintain professional practice in accordance with HCPC, BPS, and Trust policies.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience delivering therapy to people with complex trauma or personality difficulties.
- Experience working with clients presenting high levels of risk.
- Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for personality disorder and complex trauma.
- Doctoral‑level knowledge of research methodology, design and multivariate data analysis.
Skills
- Ability to supervise junior team members.
- Completed relevant supervisory training.
