Band5 Staff Nurse (Health Visiting)
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Band5 Staff Nurse (Health Visiting) to work as part of the Health Visiting Team providing preventative and supportive health care to children and families in Bath & North East Somerset. The role is based at Keynsham Children’s Centre. This is a part‑time position (22.5 hours per week) with a fixed‑term contract of one year.
Main Responsibilities
- Work within the boundaries of the Staff Nurse Competency framework.
- Collaborate with the Health Visiting Team to achieve Key Performance Indicators.
- Partner with children and families to identify health needs early and provide appropriate support to achieve positive outcomes.
- Partner with Early Years Services in community settings such as Children’s Centres and early years settings.
- Support infant feeding and parent‑infant relationships, adhering to the Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.
- Complete the Family Health Needs assessment for allocated mandated reviews and update the SCPHN (Health Visitor) with any areas of concern.
- Provide support to families using the Solihull Foundation Approach model and Five to Thrive trauma‑informed practice in behavioural management, parenting skills and delivery of programmes of care to vulnerable families identified by the SCPHN Health Visitor.
- Provide ongoing support and intervention to allocated families and update the SCPHN health visitor when significant changes occur.
- Safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults that we work with is of utmost importance; policies and procedures are in place to promote safeguarding and safer working practices.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Registered with the NMC as a field of nursing.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Knowledge of national and local policy in Children’s Service and Public Health.
- Understanding of child development.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and families, with the skills to build sustainable professional boundaries.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Children’s Nurse.
- Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of behaviour change theory.
- Practice supervisor/practice assessor qualification.
- Interest in undertaking the SCPHN qualification.
