Role Purpose

Senior Nurse Manager will work as part of the Regional Leadership Team to lead and support the delivery of high‑quality, safe and effective nursing services across the organisational services and surgeries within the designated geographical region. The postholder will provide professional leadership, supervision, support and advice to Lead Nurses and wider nursing teams, ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance and alignment with organisational policies, priorities and values. The Senior Nurse Manager will be responsible for ensuring that nursing KPIs are achieved across the region, working proactively with Lead Nurses, Practice Managers, Regional Managers and operational colleagues to identify risks, address underperformance and drive sustained improvement. The postholder will also take ownership of an agreed organisational nursing theme or priority area, such as training and development, flu and immunisations, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, nursing KPI performance, nurse engagement or clinical supervision.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, support and advice to Lead Nurses.
  • Oversee nursing teams within the designated region to ensure delivery of high‑quality care.
  • Act as a positive role model and ambassador for nursing across the organisation.
  • Establish a culture of openness, learning, development and accountability.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Senior Nurse Managers to ensure consistent nursing standards.
  • Provide expert nursing opinion and guidance to the organisation as required.
  • Support Lead Nurses through regular one‑to‑ones, consultation audits, mentorship and supervision.
  • Provide input into Lead Nurse appraisals.
  • Develop and maintain an effective Nurses Forum alongside other Senior Nurse Managers.

  • Annual salary of up to £48,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a valid nursing qualification and registration.
  • Leadership and management experience in a nursing setting is essential.
