Role Overview
The charity focused on promoting the rights of older people in care is recruiting for a Policy, Campaigns and Communications Lead to join their small, welcoming and dedicated team. This is a varied, strategic, and hands‑on role at the heart of the organisation’s influential work to raise awareness of quality care, push for new rights, and call for sector reform.
The organisation empowers those using care services, their relatives, and friends by offering information, advice, and support. They challenge poor care, highlight good practice, and demand a better care system.
Contract and Salary
- Contract: Permanent, 28 to 35 hours per week.
- Salary: £38,000 full-time (£30,400 pro‑rata for 28 hours per week).
- Location: Hybrid (home and London office) or home-based (with travel to London for meetings/training).
- Closing Date: 9am, Monday 22nd June.
- Interviews: Late June or early July.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead communication and engagement, including social media management and supporter engagement plans.
- Lead policy work, including monitoring UK care policy, drafting consultation responses, and lobbying.
- Lead campaigns, including writing and implementing campaign plans and materials.
- Develop relationships with politicians, Parliamentarians, and policymakers; act as a spokesperson.
- Line manage the Operations Coordinator.
- Ensure alignment between policy, campaigns, communications, advice services, research, and fundraising.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in a policy, campaign, or communication role.
- Knowledge of lobbying, campaigning, influencing, or supporter communications.
- Understanding of the UK adult social care sector (professional or lived experience).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and relationship‑building abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Commitment to the organisation’s vision and values.
- Understanding of the value of involving those with lived experience in policy processes.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of the UK political landscape.
- Experience working with older people needing care or their relatives.
- Experience managing Facebook accounts.
- Experience working for a small charity.
