Contract type: Continuing (permanent), Full-time.Department: BBC Concert Orchestra.Location: Broadcasting House, London.

Purpose of the role

• Act as Section Principal Double Bass, doubling as required.
• Maintain excellent solo and orchestral playing ability and uphold the highest musical standards.
• Serve as an effective and committed team leader, playing a full role in the life of the BBC Concert Orchestra.
• Travel throughout the UK and tour; perform evening and weekend work.

Your skills and experience

• Excellent professional orchestral and solo Double Bass playing ability.
• Knowledge of the range of repertoire of the BBC Concert Orchestra.
• Ability to lead and collaborate, providing artistic direction and motivating section members.
• Effective people and performance management skills, including constructive feedback and handling sensitive issues.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish harmonious relationships with diverse people.
• Commitment to maintaining the Orchestra’s reputation.
• Participation as part of a diverse team, supporting colleagues.
• Respect for others by being fully prepared and ready to play at every session.
• Ability to plan ahead to prepare parts and use resources efficiently.
• Awareness of health & safety issues.
