GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a highly successful and well-established manufacturing business located in Hereford. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract, working a 2-shift rotation.

This position operates on a Monday to Friday basis, 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00 shift rotation, offering a salary of £36,000–£40,000 depending on relevant experience.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of plant and equipment through a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, helping to maintain efficient and safe production across the site.

Maintenance Engineer duties

  • Conducting routine inspections of equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance across site machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs.
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Maintaining key spare parts and ensuring availability of critical components.
  • Ensuring high standards of housekeeping within the maintenance area.
  • Ensuring all process equipment is maintained in a safe and compliant condition.
  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical installations as required.
  • Undertaking general repair and upkeep of building infrastructure.
  • Supervising and controlling contractors on site when required.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Scheduling PPM tasks and reactive repairs for equipment.
  • Producing costed lists and estimates for planned maintenance work.

Maintenance Engineer required skills and experience

  • Strong knowledge and experience of process equipment maintenance.
  • Understanding of plastic or PVC manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Previous experience working within an engineering or manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience maintaining accurate maintenance records and working to planned schedules.Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to respond effectively under pressure.
  • Formal maintenance or engineering qualification is desirable.
  • Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent).
