Job Description:

Continuous Improvement Engineer – Plymouth, Devon. Salary £44,000-£49,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus bonus, 33 days holiday, pension, life assurance, health cash plan, training & development, free on‑site parking.

This well‑established manufacturing organisation based in Plymouth has a global presence and a reputation for delivering high‑quality engineering solutions to leading technology companies. Due to continued growth, it is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to take ownership of key manufacturing processes within its Sheet Metal department.

In this role you will lead new product introductions (NPI), drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support day‑to‑day production to ensure world‑class manufacturing standards are achieved. You will play a pivotal role in optimising processes, improving efficiency, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the site.

The role:

  • Own and develop manufacturing processes within the Sheet Metal department, including NPI and continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles.
  • Improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Provide day‑to‑day production support, ensuring efficient material flow, tooling, and equipment performance.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget, maintaining high standards of health & safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.
  • Support and coach junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and development.
  • Work Monday to Friday (39 hours per week).

The Person:

  • Engineering degree, lean business improvement training and/or similar qualification desirable.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering role.
  • Strong background in sheet metal manufacturing, including welding and jig design.
  • Experience in NPI, process optimisation, project delivery, and lean manufacturing (TPM, OEE, CI).
