Are you a skilled Electronics Engineer with a passion for low-power design and energy‑efficient systems? Our client, an innovative and fast‑growing engineering company based in Reading, is looking for an engineer to contribute to the early‑stage development of a new generation of high‑efficiency, low‑power motor control solutions.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join at the ground level of a forward‑looking programme focused on minimising power consumption while maximising performance. You’ll play a key role in shaping system architecture, influencing how energy is managed, converted, and optimised across the product lifecycle.

Working in a collaborative R&D environment, you’ll help develop next‑generation low‑power electronic systems for torque‑controlled applications where efficiency, thermal performance, and intelligent power management are critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low‑power electronic systems and components for torque‑controlled applications
  • Optimise power conversion efficiency across inverters, converters, and motor drive systems
  • Implement energy‑saving techniques, including advanced switching strategies and power management methods
  • Work across the full product lifecycle, from concept through validation and production
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical, control systems, and embedded software engineers
  • Perform simulation, testing, and analysis with a focus on efficiency, thermal performance, and power loss reduction
  • Support prototyping of energy‑efficient, compact designs suitable for real‑world deployment

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of power loss mechanisms, efficiency optimisation, and thermal considerations
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice)
  • Familiarity with control algorithms focused on energy efficiency is desirable
  • Understanding of embedded systems and power management techniques is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, evolving R&D environment

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary up to £100,000
  • Office‑based working environment in Reading
  • Generous benefits package (including pension, bonus, and more)
  • Opportunity to shape energy‑efficient technologies from the earliest stages
  • Clear career progression within a growing organisation

If you’re driven by efficiency, sustainability, and smarter energy use in electronics, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on next‑generation technology.
