Job Title: Electronic Design Engineer

Location: Reading (Hybrid Working – 4 Days On-Site Per Week)

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + Bonus & Benefits (Depending on Experience)

Role Overview:

Zenovo are looking for an Electronic Design Engineer to join their client in Reading, developing bespoke electronic and embedded hardware solutions for customers across a number of different industries.

An ideal candidate will have at least 2-Years of experience outside of University however we will consider candidates that have done a year in industry + 1 year in a commercial environment post university.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuits
  • Produce schematics, PCB layouts, and prototype assemblies
  • Support board bring‑up, testing, debugging, and validation
  • Develop and debug embedded firmware in C/C++
  • Work with STM32, Raspberry Pi, and embedded microcontroller platforms
  • Support embedded communication protocols including SPI, I2C, and UART
  • Assist with component selection, design reviews, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define technical solutions
  • Support prototype builds, fault finding, and product improvements
  • Create and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation
  • Manage component obsolescence

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Commercial experience in electronic circuit design and embedded development
  • Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics principles
  • Experience producing schematics and PCB layouts
  • Hands‑on debugging and fault‑finding experience at board level
  • Experience programming embedded systems in C/C++
  • Familiarity with STM32 or other microcontrollers
  • Good understanding of common communication protocols including SPI, I2C, and UART
