Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers are to have their own insurance and to have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, along with our engineer handbook, contract for services and branded clothing, we supply labels and technical support.

Job Description
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Clapham Common. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‑time or full‑time.
Although we understand that some may travel further afield, we require that all applicants have a reasonable commuting distance of Clapham Common or closer.
This role offers potential earnings on a pro‑rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Our jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts, allowing us to discuss all details and determine what works best for you.
To apply, you must have your transport or means to get to work and equipment, hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable and honest, as well as have a ‘can‑do’ attitude. All necessary equipment, including testing instruments, measuring devices, and additional tools, must be kept up to date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations.
A typical day for a PAT tester starts with packing up all the necessary tools and equipment – including testers and record books – into the van before setting off to the first job. Once on site, you test appliances such as microwaves, kettles, and computers. You record findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronically, and provide employers with a copy, sometimes filling out additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists. The day involves constant movement from one location to another – alone or with a team – so staying organized and ensuring accurate, efficient testing is essential. The role rewards skill, experience, and patience, helping to keep workplaces safe while developing your own expertise and opportunities for advancement.
