Shift Engineer – The St. Regis London, 37 Conduit Street, London, United Kingdom.
As a Shift Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel’s facilities and equipment. You will support the Engineering team in delivering a safe, efficient and well‑maintained environment for both guests and associates in a luxury setting.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring efficient and professional resolution
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and HVAC equipment
- Inspect tools, machinery and facilities, identifying faults and carrying out necessary repairs
- Troubleshoot and conduct basic repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance areas
- Carry out painting, minor repairs, fixture replacements and general upkeep of guest rooms and public areas
- Maintain and manage inventory of tools, parts and engineering supplies
- Identify and operate shut‑off valves and utility systems safely and effectively
- Communicate daily activities, maintenance issues and handover notes across shifts
- Support maintenance of landscaping systems, including irrigation and external areas
- Use appropriate safety systems, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, at all times
- Maintain accurate records and utilise basic computer systems to log work and adjust equipment settings
- Ensure all work areas are clean, safe and compliant with health and safety standards
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to guest experience
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge across multiple disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general maintenance
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A service‑oriented mindset with the ability to interact professionally with guests
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Understanding of health & safety procedures within an engineering environment
- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to operational needs
- Basic computer skills for logging and tracking maintenance activities
- Physical capability to perform the operational requirements of the role
