Job Description:

Pastoral Officer – Secondary School – Kettering. Location: Kettering. Start date: September 2026. Contract: Full-Time | Permanent. Preferred | Long-Term Supply or Fixed-Term Contract Considered. Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience).

Role

  • Providing targeted pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for students who require additional guidance and encouragement.
  • Supporting attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and engagement through proactive intervention and monitoring.
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need.
  • Assisting with behaviour support strategies and restorative approaches to conflict resolution.
  • Supporting students facing social, emotional, behavioural, or wellbeing challenges.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to safeguarding and student welfare processes.
  • Promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, pastoral, or support setting.
  • Builds strong and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a calm approach when managing challenging situations.
  • Possesses excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Is proactive, reliable, and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and student welfare.
