Band 5 Building Supervisor

Job Responsibilities
- Look after labour, day to day maintenance of the building fabric and surrounding buildings.
- Monitor and manage the sickness and annual leave of the team.
- Work on own initiative to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements and capital work across the trust.
- Efficiently manage resources including labour, materials and stock, and liaise with external contractors to identify, source and order replacement parts for breakdowns.
- Participate in the estate departments on‑call duties to ensure out of hours emergencies are attended to.

Qualifications
- City & Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate in a relevant building or construction discipline,
- City & Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate in a relevant building or construction discipline,
- An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Building or Construction discipline.
- BTEC/ONC in Building or Construction Services.
- HNC in construction and the built environment or equivalent.
- PASSMA
- IPAF
- IOSHH
Experience
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Building or Construction for a minimum of 3 years,
- Post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility.
- Background in Building or Construction installation, alteration, maintenance or repair.
- Experience of building fabric, equipment and woodworking machinery.
- Previous experience of working in an acute Hospital environment or similar demanding role.
- Knowledge of a broad range of Building or construction services.
- Previous supervisory experience.

- Clear and effective in verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work without supervision and confident to make decisions based on own ability.
- Adaptable to change.
- Capable of working to deadlines.
- Physically demanding role requiring manual handling of loads, extremes of temperature and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Appreciation of his/her own limitations.
- Available to take part in estates department on-call rota.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Clean driving license to drive trust vehicles and plant when required.
