We’re looking for an innovative, dynamic colleague to cover a 12-month maternity secondment as Senior Product Manager within our Residential Lending team. You’ll oversee the end-to-end mortgage customer journeys, identify and lead change initiatives from concept through to delivery. You’ll be responsible for creating outstanding journey experiences for customers and brokers, while protecting the business by ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering good customer outcomes. You’ll also help maximise growth opportunities and minimise risk.
The Secured Lending UK Team is part of Retail Banking and has responsibility for the mortgage portfolios of HSBC and First Direct, representing c.£131bn+ in balances. The team is crucial to generating substantial revenue for HSBC UK, responsible for residential lending product management including new business and retention with a key aim of enhancing the customer and broker journeys, delivering seamless and innovative solutions that meet their needs and exceed their expectations.

In this role you will:
- Play a vital role in the mortgage leadership team, ensuring HSBC and First Direct mortgage products meet their strategic and financial goals
- Immerse yourself in customer insight to identify and drive a best-in-class customer and broker experience
- Collaborate with teams across Underwriting, Distribution, Credit Risk and Operations to improve the entire customer journey
- Collaborate with third parties to introduce tailored product and journey improvements for customers
- Lead the development of innovative products and services that meet customer needs and offer a competitive edge
- Perform duties with integrity, following risk control guidelines and procedures to minimise risks
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Knowledge of the residential lending and general mortgage market, including its distribution and developments
- A track record of designing and delivering strategy which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
- Experience of leading a team
- A track record of delivering significant change both digital and non-digital which improves customer and commercial outcomes in a way that inspires and engages those around them
- Strong analytical skills to grasp, consolidate and distil diverse and complex sources and ranges of information into useful, insightful, and concise recommendations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to navigate across regulators as well as internal wider teams and senior stakeholders
