Qualifications
- Full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
- Eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
- UK‑trained doctors must have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
- Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route doctors are only eligible to apply once the route has been awarded.
- Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tertiary respiratory care to children in NHS Lothian and, by agreement, in other health boards across Scotland.
- Maintain a substantive paediatric respiratory consultant post, funded for 7 posts with the possibility of additional posts.
- No current commitment to out‑of‑hours work; a dedicated on‑call respiratory rota is expected to begin later in 2026 with a planned 1 in 6 contributions, including the successful candidate.
Working Hours
- Permanent, part‑time (28 hours per week) post based in the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.
