Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients with glaucoma, providing surgical or non‑surgical care not currently offered by the department.

Appointment Details

  • 5.00 PA appointment for up to two years covering a career break.
  • Post based at Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT).

Essential Criteria

  • Fellowship training or equivalent postgraduate training/experience in the management of patients with glaucoma.
  • Medical degree, FRCOphth (or equivalent), CST in ophthalmology, specialist registration with the GMC.
  • Evidence of leadership skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate research degree (MD, PhD, MSc).
  • Publications and/or presentations of original clinical and/or laboratory research in ophthalmology.
  • Publications and/or presentations of original clinical and/or laboratory research in glaucoma and research grant awards.
  • Clinical audit experience and evidence of completion of a clinical audit cycle.
  • Experience in formal and informal teaching and training; qualification in teaching/training.
  • Able to work with team members of all grades within the NHS.
  • Organisational skills and willingness to work flexibly towards the strategic aims of the organisation.
  • Managerial experience, including a central role in competence‑based role development for non‑medical staff and patient care pathway development.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.
