Job Overview
To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrist and members of the medical team, assisting them in achieving their objectives and liaising with all relevant and appropriate services.
Main Duties
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties, including:
- Receiving and processing all correspondence.
- Booking new patient appointments.
- Attending MDT weekly meetings and taking minutes.
- Audio transcription and text processing of clinical letters, reports and other correspondence as required by the medical team.
- Acting as a focal point of contact and disseminating information, messages and enquiries for the medical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within the Trust, GP’s, Social Workers, Service Users, Carers and other appropriate external agencies.
Person Specification
Experience
- Significant admin/secretarial experience working in a health or equivalent environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and database use.
- Knowledge of good practice and system of work within secretarial/PA field.
- Experience within NHS administration.
Qualifications
- Educated in English ‘O’ Level or GCSE equivalent.
Skills
- Answering telephone calls and handling sensitive information.
- Minute-taking experience.
