Careers as an experienced Joinery Tutor at Inspire Learning, teaching Level 1 and/or Level 2 Joinery Qualifications at our High Pavement centre in Sutton‑in‑Ashfield.

Job Purpose

To provide young people and adults with appropriate teaching and training on accredited and non‑accredited learning programmes, focusing on delivering construction qualifications to Level 2. The role aims to meet professional standards, build upon the Education Inspection Framework, and promote best practice with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver joinery learning programmes up to Level 2 to a high standard for all learners.
  • Meet recruitment, retention, attendance and overall achievement targets.
  • Recruit, select, induct and initially assess learners, designing their individual training programmes.
  • Participate in the annual Self‑Assessment Report and contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Design, develop, deliver and assess courses across a range of programmes, particularly functional skills.
  • Provide learners with appropriate information, guidance, counselling and support for further progression.
  • Engage in continuous personal development, including acquiring relevant teaching qualifications where appropriate, and take ownership of professional development in line with ETF Professional Standards.
  • Carry out administrative work supporting all organisational operations.
  • Adhere to all Inspire policies, procedures, brand guidelines, contractual requirements and professional best practice.
  • Perform any duties or tasks assigned by management necessary to meet service needs.
  • Assume roles of Appointed Person and/or First Aider as required.

Education and Knowledge Required

  • Hold or be willing to work toward a Level 4 teaching qualification.
  • Hold a relevant joinery qualification enabling delivery up to Level 2.
  • GCSEs A to C (Grades 4–9) or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Hold or be willing to work toward an assessor qualification.
  • Understanding of ESFA‑funded training programmes.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, including Prevent.
  • Knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues and legislation relating to learning delivery.
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with adults and young people, including those with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Experience delivering and assessing joinery programmes up to and including Level 2 at a high standard.
  • Experience and ability to plan, write, deliver and evaluate joinery programmes.
  • Ability to effectively review, monitor and provide guidance and support to learners.

  • Skills and qualifications (Competency Level 4)
    • GCSE (Grades 1–3) or Level 1 Diploma (Foundation) and good verbal communication skills, willingness to progress to Level 2 English and Maths.
    • GCSE (Grades 4–9) including English and Maths or Level 2 Diploma (First Diploma) with demonstrable IT skills.
    • Internet information searching, Microsoft Office basic skills, use of online teaching platforms such as Teams and Zoom.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills; A‑level or equivalent Level 3 Diplomas or Certificates.
    • Newly qualified or working toward: Diploma or Service‑specific qualification or relevant HNC; or experienced qualified (≥3 years) with Diploma or Service‑specific qualification or relevant HNC.
