We have vacancies available for Personal Support Assistants, 10:00 am‑2:30 pm, Mon‑Fri, term time only.

Salary grade 5. Part‑time opportunities may be available. Full training will be provided to support your professional development.

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • assist classroom staff in the preparation of children before their lunch – including intimate care, handwashing, dressing, placing in chairs, setting tables, collecting the dinner trolley, etc.
  • supervise pupils in the lunch hall, assisting where necessary and encouraging independence where appropriate.
  • feed individual pupils according to their Eating & Drinking plan – following specific training from S & L therapists.
  • assist in the administration of medicines, including controlled drugs – training will be given. Be trained in the administration of emergency medication and medical procedures and take responsibility when necessary.
  • support pupils’ hygiene programmes according to their Intimate Care Plans – respecting individual privacy, dignity and respect.
  • support pupils in their therapy programmes such as hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and physiotherapy, including hoisting – appropriate Moving & Handling training will be given.
  • supervise recreational activities, leading or joining in as appropriate, ensuring pupils are safely and appropriately occupied. Provide classroom supervision during wet breaks.
  • support pupils with learning in classrooms or other environments such as food tech, gardening, Enterprise, DT and community visits as directed daily by the Operations Manager.
  • support learning by arranging or providing resources for lessons or activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress.
  • support pupils in social and emotional well‑being, reporting problems to teachers as appropriate.
  • support pupils travelling between sites – securing pupils who are wheelchair users – and take responsibility for emergency meds and care plans.
  • use ICT to support pupils and to record behaviour when necessary.
  • assist with the clearing of the dining hall after lunch service.
