Premises Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from ASAP

This role is within a well‑established education setting where high expectations, strong leadership, and positive relationships create a safe and purposeful environment. The setting is well organised, with clear systems in place to support staff and learners, and a strong focus on maintaining high standards across the site. Pupils benefit from a calm, secure environment that supports engagement, wellbeing, and day‑to‑day learning.

Duties as Premises Assistant:

  • Support the day‑to‑day maintenance and upkeep of the school premises
  • Assist with ensuring the site is safe, secure, clean, and well‑presented at all times
  • Carry out routine checks, minor repairs, and basic maintenance tasks
  • Support health and safety procedures, including site inspections and reporting issues
  • Assist with opening and closing the site as required
  • Support contractors and visitors on site, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Help with room set‑ups, furniture movement, and general site logistics
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and site‑related issues
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and orderly environment for staff and pupils

Ideal Premises Assistant:

  • Has experience in premises, caretaking, site, or facilities support roles
  • Is practical, reliable, and able to carry out basic maintenance tasks
  • Has an understanding of health and safety procedures in a workplace or school setting
  • Is organised and able to manage tasks independently
  • Communicates well and works effectively as part of a wider team
  • Is proactive, flexible, and takes pride in maintaining a safe environment
  • Has a strong awareness of safeguarding responsibilities when working in education
  • Is able to commit to a long‑term, ongoing role starting immediately
