Job overview
This post is open to newly qualified professionals and students who are due to complete their qualification during this calendar year. Successful applicants may receive a conditional offer subject to completion of training and registration.
You will be based in the beautiful North Kerrier area with the Camborne Community Nursing Team. We are looking for a caring, motivated and dynamic community nurse to join our large, busy, professional team.
We cover several GP practices in the Camborne and surrounding areas. Your role will require close collaboration with GP’s, health and social care colleagues including therapists and voluntary organisations.
We would like you to possess commitment to team working and embrace innovative delivery of excellent standards of care, have a real enthusiasm for nursing in the community and a desire for ongoing professional development.
You should also have an understanding of the changing climate of care delivery in the community.
The ability to travel independently across the West Locality to support other teams and to fulfil the requirements of the post is essential.
We work a 2 shift model covering 8am-10pm, to include 9 to 5 and 2 to 10 shifts which includes working weekends.
Main duties of the job
Following an initial induction and ongoing clinical supervision, you will be responsible for:
- Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, without direct supervision, to patients, carers and relatives within their home environment. The aim is to enable them to enjoy maximum independence and optimum quality of life.
- To work in partnership with patients and carers to offer support and advice and promote informed choice.
- To support the role of the Community Nurse Team leader.
- To work autonomously, providing effective, evidence-based care in line with competency and training record and organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To support all locality teams by working in a flexible way. Moving to work with the team in most need on a daily, weekly or monthly basis as service provision demands.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Evidence of recent relevant professional development
- To act as a mentor for student university placements. Having the mentoring qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification and attending mentorship updates as required.
- Current Professional Registration – NMC
- Hold a post-registration diploma or be working towards a degree
Skills and Aptitude
- IT skills to include use of Word, Excel, email, internet, recording systems
- The ability to provide skilled, evidence based nursing care to a wide range of patients
- Ability to deal with patients and carers who are under stress.
- Awareness of and adherence to policies including lone worker and manual handling policies
- Current knowledge of developments in nursing and healthcare in general.
