About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Support Worker to participate in the continued development of the Emergency Laparotomy and Enhanced Recovery Team within NHS Tayside. This is based upon the Emergency Laparotomy Audit (ELLSA) and the Enhanced Recovery After Colorectal Surgery (ERAS) project. The position is permanent with one post available.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre‑operative support and be involved daily at Theatre Huddles and MDT rounds to input real‑time information about all participating patients.
- Engage with patients and their carers daily to achieve goal‑setting targets, encouraging and supporting mobility, including post‑operative strengthening and movement using the Emergency Laparotomy and ERAS resources.
- Offer early access to resources and support discharge planning, identifying early barriers to avoid prolonged hospital admissions.
- Collaborate with the Emergency Laparotomy and ERAS Specialist Nurse to participate in data collection and entry into the Emergency Laparotomy and Laparoscopic Scottish Audit (ELLSA) database and the ERAS database, following national standards.
- Support the development and implementation of improvement projects and audits for this patient group.
Employment details
36 hours per week; variety of shifts 0800‑1600, 0800‑1800; 7‑day working.
