Position Overview
Specialist Clinical Technologist – 2 Posts: 1 based at Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, 1 based at St John’s Hospital Livingston. Permanent, Full Time (36 hrs/wk). Salary Scale: Band 6.
Medical Equipment Management, Department of Medical Physics, NHS Lothian – an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a high‑quality medical equipment management service.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support including the service, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of medical equipment.
- Carry out duties across multiple hospital sites and community clinics, supporting day‑to‑day service delivery.
- Contribute to the safe, effective, and timely deployment of medical devices in support of clinical services.
Qualifications
- Qualified to SCQF level 9 or higher in an electrical or electronic discipline, or demonstrate equivalent training and relevant experience.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and experienced in medical equipment management.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; flexible, methodical approach to work.
Legal and Security Considerations
This post requires a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025 this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to joining the PVG Scheme. Any changes to current requirements will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.

- Travel across hospitals and clinics throughout Lothian may be required; flexibility in working location is therefore required.
