Assistant Educational Psychologist

37.0 hours per week, £37,265 – £41,616 per annum. Fixed‑term contract (initially 1 year, with potential extension dependent on funding).

We are seeking two exceptional, enthusiastic, and motivated Assistant Educational Psychologists to support the delivery of the new Experts at Hand programme, introduced by the Department for Education as part of the Government’s SEND reforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of qualified Educational Psychologists.
  • Support groups of children, staff and families in schools using training, intervention, therapeutic approaches and consultation.
  • Address themes such as cognition, emotional wellbeing, child development, attachment, trauma, teaching methodology and interaction.
  • Contribute to the integrated SEND 0–25 Service and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Maintain professional practice in line with Health and Care Professions Council standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Psychology degree and experience applying psychology within an educational setting (e.g., teaching, delivering interventions, working with families, providing SEND support).
  • Ability to work under pressure as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Exceptional engagement skills to work with children, young people and families.
  • Seeking psychology graduates who are awaiting or proposing to apply for admission to an approved postgraduate training course leading to a doctoral‑level qualification in professional practice of Educational Psychology.
