Recycling Technician
We are seeking an experienced forklift driver with strong attention to detail and solid IT skills to join our Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team for a 12‑month contract in Loughborough.
Role Overview
- Job Title: Recycling Technician
- Location: Loughborough – Bishop Meadow Road (Onsite)
- Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour (AWD/AWR Salary Equivalent: £25,740.00)
- Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week
- Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
- Duration: 12‑month contract
- Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Waste & Recycling Management: Offload delivery vehicles; segregate returned bottles, cardboard, and pulp into correct recycling streams; break down and bale cardboard.
- Forklift Operations: Safely empty mini skips into larger skips using a forklift truck.
- Vendor & Logistics Coordination: Manage skip collections with preferred waste vendors, load collection vehicles, and maintain associated paperwork.
- Data & Compliance: Reconcile customer transfer notes, enter details into electronic systems, track customer compliance, and report any discrepancies to the line manager.
- Health & Safety: Identify and separate hazardous residues in line with strict H&S procedures and support wider waste centre operations (listing, labelling, and bulking hazardous waste).
Requirements
- B1 Counterbalance Forklift license is strictly mandatory.
- Demonstrable computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets and email systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and readily understand English written and verbal instructions.
- Passing a standard background check.
Desirable Criteria
- Prior experience handling and transporting hazardous materials.
- Previous experience working directly with waste and recycling streams.
