Main purpose
The teacher will:
- Fulfil theprofessional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’Pay and Conditions Document
- Meet theexpectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards.
Duties and responsibilities
Teaching
Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
Assess, monitor, record and report on thelearning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurateand productive use of assessment
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengthsand needs of pupils
Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
Promote good progress and outcomes bypupils
Demonstrate good subject and curriculumknowledge
Participate in arrangements for preparingpupils for external tests/next stages of education
To ensure the learningenvironment/equipment are used and maintained to a high standard to encourageindependence and support learning.
Whole-school organisation, strategy and development
Contribute to the development,implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices andprocedures, so as to support the school’s values and vision
Make a positive contribution to the widerlife and ethos of the school
Work with others on curriculum and pupildevelopment to secure co-ordinated outcomes
Provide cover, in the unforeseencircumstance that another teacher is unable to teach.
Health,safety and discipline
Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils
Maintain good order and discipline amongpupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learningenvironment
To ensure high standards of hygiene andsafety at all times.
Professionaldevelopment
Take part in the school’s appraisalprocedures
Take part in further training anddevelopment in order to improve own teaching
Where appropriate, take part in theappraisal and professional development of others.
Communication
Communicate effectively with pupils,parents and carers
Working withcolleagues and other relevant professionals
Communicate with team and all other staffmembers
Collaborate and work with colleagues andother relevant professionals within and beyond the school
Develop effective professionalrelationships with colleagues
Personal andprofessional conduct
Uphold public trust in the profession andmaintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school
Have proper and professional regard for theethos, policies and practices of the school, and maintain high standards ofattendance and punctuality
Understand and act within the statutoryframeworks setting out their professional duties and responsibilities
Follow whole school policies and Staff Codeof Conduct.
Management ofstaff and resources
Direct and supervise support staff assignedto them, and where appropriate, other teachers
Contribute to the recruitment andprofessional development of other teachers and support staff
Deploy resources delegated to them.
The teacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare ofchildren and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code ofconduct.
