Job Description:

Clinical Nurse Specialist Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders

The closing date is 17 June 2026.

The Sheffield Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder (PD/MD) team are looking to recruit a nurse who is keen to develop their career via the Specialist Nurse pathway. If you enjoy working in partnership with patients, taking a holistic approach to long‑term conditions and being part of that patient’s journey – this may be the role for you.

We are looking for a motivated nurse with a keen drive to learn and become established in the role of Specialist Nurse in PD/MD. Currently we have a well‑established team of experienced nurses and, as such, you need not be a PD/MD expert now; we will provide comprehensive orientation and a professional development plan tailored to nurture the abilities you already possess and develop the skills needed to succeed as a Specialist Nurse.

The successful applicant will be driven, forward‑thinking and committed to being involved in all aspects of the patient pathway. They will be self‑reliant, confident, work flexibly, adapt to change and ensure they work within the remits of their role. A car driver with a car is favoured as the post holder will provide services to a large geographical area by way of satellite clinics.

Main duties of the job

As a specialist, you are required to act as a point of contact for your patient; to be an advocate for their care and to liaise with all those involved in the care pathway, both in the hospital and community setting. Communication and collaboration are vital skills you must possess.

Using good communication you will ensure your patients are supported from initial diagnosis, with medication management, psychological and social support, whilst ensuring all safety concerns are addressed. For patients who cannot advocate for themselves, we are a point of contact for carers and families.

You will work with colleagues to contribute to the multidisciplinary team, facilitating management of patients with PD/MD and the social, psychological and physical complexities this diagnosis can bring.

You must also manage your own workload within busy time constraints. You will work autonomously running nurse‑led clinics but have the support of colleagues as well as two Senior Nurse Specialists.

The team includes professionals from a variety of backgrounds, and we celebrate the diversity and richness that an individual brings.

We want to hear from people who display integrity, professionalism, teamwork and a willingness to work hard to put the service user at the centre of everything we deliver.

About us

You will be working for an organisation that values and respects all staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and offers excellent benefits, commitments to professional development and many policies to support a healthy work‑life balance.
