Support cutting‑edge research at the London Business School

As the Research Support Manager, you will use your resourcefulness, proactivity, and exceptional organisational skills to create an environment at the London Business School where quality research can thrive and grow. Sharing information, facilitating funding, and maintaining our information channels, you will play a key role in keeping us at the forefront of research excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of high‑quality research support service.
  • Development of processes to ensure compliance with sector requirements related to open access, research data management, and research integrity.
  • Compliance with internal processes, funder regulations, and the broader higher education research landscape.
  • Production of high‑quality reports to identify trends and issues.
  • Projects delivered on time, on budget, and to high‑quality standards and targets.
  • Development of relationships within and outside the team, with positive feedback from colleagues.
  • Improvements to processes and procedures in the research support service.
  • Provision of up‑to‑date and accurate financial information for internal funds.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a comparable role, e.g., first point of contact for external grant funding within a university department.
  • Experience with external funder grant application systems.
  • Ability to work closely with faculty to identify their research ambitions and how to support them.
  • Ability to persuade and influence to foster and maintain positive working relationships with faculty.
  • Ability to adapt and change to accommodate differing research goals and day‑to‑day working needs of faculty.
  • Previous experience with the research excellence framework (desirable).
  • Ability to present numerical data and faculty publication output data in a variety of use‑friendly reporting formats to support operational and strategic decision making.

Outside of these hours, you may still be required for meetings or collaboration based on your role and customer needs. Additionally, we offer protected time – a flexible, one‑hour slot within the working week dedicated to your learning and development, wellbeing, or focused quiet work.
