About the Role
This role sits at the front end of Manchester’s Renters’ Rights Advice service, providing early, practical support so situations can be addressed quickly and fairly. It is a fast‑paced, hands‑on role where no two days look the same. You’ll deal with a range of enquiries, supporting tenants at risk of losing their home and working with landlords and agents to resolve issues early. The focus is on early intervention, problem‑solving and preventing issues from escalating into homelessness or more complex disputes.
You will identify housing risks early, provide clear advice, and help stabilise situations before they escalat e. By stepping in at the right time, you’ll help prevent avoidable homelessness, support better outcomes across the private rented sector, and reduce pressure on statutory services.

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Strong communication skills to explain information clearly and support people in sensitive or challenging situations.
- Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to assess housing risk and identify appropriate next steps.
- Analytical skills to gather and use information from different sources to inform decisions.
- Ability to plan and organise work effectively, managing competing priorities and working at pace.
- Confidence using ICT systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience working in housing, homelessness, advice or a similar customer‑focused environment.
- Ability to apply guidance or legislation in a practical, real‑world way.
Desirable
- Experience working in the private rented sector, with tenants, landlords or letting agents.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, including the Renters’ Rights Act.
- Experience of early intervention, crisis response or stabilising urgent situations.
- Experience working across services or with partner organisations.
