Position: Junior Infrastructure Engineer (Edinburgh)

Purpose of the role: Build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems. Ensure reliability, scalability, and security using hardware, software, networks, and cloud platforms.

Accountabilities

  • Build Engineering: Develop, deliver, and maintain high‑quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitor IT infrastructure, detect and resolve issues, and use data to reduce mean time to resolution.
  • Automation: Create automated scripts and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Security: Implement secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, architects, and engineers.
  • Learning: Stay informed about industry technology trends and contribute to the organization’s technology community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support applications in a multi‑cloud environment.
  • Automate deployment pipelines using CloudBees/Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
  • Manage AWS resources (EC2, ALBs, SGs, CloudFormation, etc.) and maintain monitoring dashboards using DataDog.
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and propose improvements.
  • Work on a rotating on‑call schedule and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Document processes and secure configurations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with core AWS Cloud infrastructure such as EC2, ALBs, and SGs.
  • Hands‑on experience developing and running code via CI/CD pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of RHEL/OS commands.
  • Experience supporting and monitoring production applications and managing incidents.
  • Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation and container technology (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience using monitoring/logging tools such as DataDog and creating dashboards.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
