Job Description

We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support secure, scalable cloud platforms across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role focused on infrastructure, automation, identity, and platform improvement. You will help modernise legacy services, deliver resilient cloud solutions, and work closely with technical and non‑technical teams to support business change.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.
  • Deliver secure, scalable, and resilient platform solutions aligned to business and technical needs.
  • Improve and automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support cloud migrations, platform upgrades, and the transition away from legacy infrastructure.
  • Work closely with security, networking, and delivery teams to maintain reliable and compliant services.
  • Provide technical guidance and act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI tools and automation to improve operational efficiency, monitoring, and service delivery across the cloud estate.

Success Criteria

  • Cloud platforms are secure, stable, and fit for growth.
  • Infrastructure is increasingly automated, standardised, and easier to support.
  • Migrations and platform changes are delivered smoothly and with minimal disruption.
  • Technical issues are resolved efficiently, with clear ownership and communication.
  • Teams have reliable infrastructure and clear technical standards to work from.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands‑on experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation tooling, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of identity, security, governance, and operational best practice in cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure change in complex environments.
  • Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and communicate technical issues clearly.
  • Awareness of emerging AI and LLM technologies, with the ability to assess where they can add value in infrastructure operations and engineering workflows.

Skills for Excellence

  • A practical, problem‑solving approach to infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • A structured, automation‑first mindset.
  • The confidence to take ownership of technical delivery and improvement.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work well across teams.
  • Curiosity about AI‑enabled ways of working and the judgment to apply them appropriately, securely, and pragmatically.

Additional Qualifications

  • A degree in IT, computer science, infrastructure engineering, or a related field would be useful, but is not essential.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, Microsoft, Terraform, or security would be an advantage.
  • Experience working in complex, changing environments with a strong focus on delivery and continuous improvement is desirable.

Benefits

  • Office‑based working in one of our offices.
  • Annual leave: 25 days in the first year, increasing by one day each year up to 28 days.
  • Private medical coverage, discounted health plans, virtual GP access, eye care scheme, and comprehensive employee assistance program.
  • Wavenet Academy – a learning management system for learning, training, and personal development.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences to apply and bring their unique perspectives to our team.
