Responsibilities
- A range of general and specialist outpatient services in Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Contribution to Acute Medicine on call and General Medical inpatients
- Diabetes & Endocrinology outpatient clinics, MDT meetings and supporting Diabetes inpatient team
- Administrative duties to support outpatient and inpatient work (office space and secretarial support will be provided)
- Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework with at least 1.5 SPA (core) and additional PAs offered according to roles and duties commissioned
- On‑call duties for general medicine (currently assessed as 1.5 PA – 1:14 weekdays, 1:8 weekends)
- Educational supervision for residents (from FY1 to Specialist Registrar); additional SPA and job planned as 0.25 PA per trainee (1 hour/week)
Qualifications and Person Specification
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
- Medical Degree from a recognised medical school
- GMC Full Registration with licence to practise; MRCP or Equivalent
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Wide experience in general and specialist diabetes and endocrinology and general internal medicine
- Comprehensive technical competence in Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Ability to provide sound clinical opinion on all diabetes and endocrine problems
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients within general medical practice
- Ability to be the responsible physician for Acute Medical takings and ward patients
- Wide experience of NHS procedures and practice
- Teaching skills
- Computer literate
- Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to manage and lead a service and junior staff
- Ability to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets
- Possesses good communication skills
- Flexibility
- Willingness to provide and learn all aspects of hospital internal systems and processes and adhere to local policies
- Physically able to carry out the duties as specified in the job description and ability to evidence competencies
- Disclosure + Barring Service (DBS) Clearance
