Job Description:

What you’ll do

  • Perform reactive and pro‑active mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations on heating, ventilation, chilled water, and BMS systems.
  • Conduct fault‑finding diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory inspections.
  • Work safely under mechanical permit systems and adhere to health & safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to provide fast and efficient responses to breakdowns.
  • Participate in the on‑call roster to provide essential support.
  • Work with tools, access equipment, and occasionally drive company vehicles, as required.
  • Coordinate maintenance tasks with in‑house teams and external contractors.

What you bring

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a similar role.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and building energy management systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the role

Mechanical HVAC / Multi‑Skilled Engineer – part of the estates team at Wythenshawe Hospital, supporting the delivery of Hard FM services across the estate.

Employment details

  • Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00‑16:30 (additional pay through on‑call duties and overtime).
  • Department: Technical Services.
