Located in Wimborne, Dorset, Eaton’s Aerospace division is a global leader in aerospace fuel systems, renowned for delivering fully integrated solutions for both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.

Our Wimborne facility specialises in cutting‑edge air‑to‑air refuelling systems, advanced refuelling probes, air‑to‑air and air‑to‑ground launch systems utilising both pneumatic and pyrotechnic ejection technologies, as well as a range of Defensive Aids Sub‑Systems.

What You’ll Do

Within the facilities Eaton has recently opened a new centre of Additive Manufacturing where we are seeking a Lead Additive Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the technical expert. This individual will define, implement, and optimise the manufacturing, processing and inspection methods required to deliver high‑quality, additively manufactured aerospace components.

The role involves close collaboration with design engineers, additive engineers, technicians and internal customers to advance AM product development, industrialisation and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical expert for AM LPBF and EBPBF technology in Aerospace
  • Set up additive build files, post processing, part inspection, troubleshooting and process documentation
  • Optimise manufacturing processes, post‑processing operations and inspection methods for additively manufactured components
  • Design AM Parts and Supports – 3D modelling
  • Introduce new AM products in production using the New Product Introduction process in accordance with established standards and best practices driving a right‑the‑first‑time philosophy
  • Present and lead AM product MRL reviews with customers
  • Act as a design and process mentor to other engineers
  • Review and recommend changes for AM processes; WI and specs
  • Manage material and process characterization work for new AM processes
  • MRL owner for many AM projects across the 4 divisions
  • Support new machines implementation
  • Support safety; 5S; maintenance and calibration of AM machines
  • Research, justify and implement new manufacturing processes
  • Support development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the AM team business strategy to meet cost, quality and delivery
  • Support and own government‑funded projects with collaboration with ERL
  • Develop and implement effective mistake‑proofing as part of continuous improvement and root‑cause/corrective action
  • Participate as an active member in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) to eliminate waste and drive standardisation
  • Create and maintain the AM process value stream
  • Develop in‑process monitoring and analyse data from AM machines

Qualifications

  • HND in Mechanical Discipline
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in a machine shop and manufacturing engineering related environment

Skills

  • Experience running metal AM machines
  • Manufacturing experience in aerospace
  • CAD modelling experience: Solidworks/AutoCAD
  • Practical experience in mistake‑proofing (Poka‑Yoke)
  • Proficient in the interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/activities; results driven
  • Understanding of problem‑solving methodologies and risk assessment tools (Six Sigma, 8D, root‑cause analysis, PFMEA)
