Physicist – Optical Expertise

At Oxford Instruments Andor we are looking for a Physicist with optical expertise to work within the Product Engineering Team of our Technology Department. The Physicist will provide optical technical support to product management, product support, quality engineering, customer returns, production NCP support, and supply chain suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver optical technical support across Andor’s product portfolio, including spectrographs, microscopy systems, instruments and cameras.
  • Lead and deliver product enhancement projects such as image sensor and optical instrument optimisation.
  • Perform robust root cause analysis of recurring issues and develop product quality testing strategies.

Qualifications

  • BSc (or MSci) in a Physical Science or related discipline such as Physics, Electronic Engineering, or Opto‑Electronic Engineering and at least 3 years relevant experience, or
  • National Diploma (or equivalent) in a Physical Science or related discipline and at least 5 years relevant experience (relevant experience can be gained through PhD studies).
  • Based at our Belfast headquarters, full‑time onsite.
