Position : Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location : Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Barnsley

Hybrid : No – this role is office based

Sector : Heavy engineering, capital plant and equipment

Salary : According to experience but likely to be in the £50,000 – £70,000 bracket

Visa Support : No, you must already have the right to live and work in the UK

English language : Customers are based all over the world and whilst they all speak English, it is as a foreign language. You will need to have first class spoken and written English language skills and to be able to explain things clearly.

This role is a full-on engineering design role and will comprise

• Heavy engineering equipment design
• Structural steel design and analysis – loads, deflection, buckling etc
• Materials handling design
• Design for fabrication, assembly and installation – weldments, bolted structures etc
• Access, safety and ergonomics design – Working at Height, Machinery directives
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards – guarding, stops, emissions etc
• Load and failure analysis – static, dynamic, FEA etc
• Problem solving and root cause analysis – FMEA, 5 Whys etc
• Materials knowledge, ideally with some exposure to castings / forgings

About You :

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar is very much preferred
• Chartered Engineer status beneficial
• Experience of large CAPEX plant projects
• CAD literate
• FEA
• CFD
• Mathcad
• Able to travel internationally when required
• Clear written and spoken English language skills
