Make a Real Difference to a young person in Conwy as a Step-Forward Foster Carer
Across Conwy, there are children and siblings who are ready to transition from residential care who need more than just a home. They need a stable, caring environment where they can rebuild trust, grow in confidence, and feel part of a family again. As a Step-Forward Foster Carer, you could provide that safe space, welcoming a child or sibling group into your home and helping them navigate this pivotal stage in their life.
If you have professional experience supporting children, young people, or adults – especially those with complex needs or challenging behaviours, through work or volunteering, you may already have the qualities that matter most: patience, empathy, and the ability to guide and encourage a young person through difficult moments.
Who we are looking for:
- Individuals or couples who can provide full-time care in their home
- A spare bedroom or bedrooms that can be dedicated to fostering
- People willing to support siblings to remain together whenever possible
- Patient, resilient individuals who are open to learning and working with professionals
- People with experience in supporting children, young people, or adults, particularly those with complex or challenging needs
What You Will Receive
- An enhanced fee of £52,000 per year (equivalent to £1,000 per week) per child, plus weekly payments for the child and payments for birthdays, holidays and other activities
- Extra benefits such as council tax reduction, parking permits and access to local and national discounts and memberships
- Trauma-informed training, guidance, and professional support plus access to supportive local peer networks
- A retainer fee between fostering placements and a £500 referral payment should you successfully refer another new carer
