Metal Fabricator / Mechanical Fitter

An aerospace leader is urgently seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator/Mechanical Fitter to contribute to the delivery of bespoke, high‑quality vehicle solutions through complex prototype development, retrofit, and series production.
Key Responsibilities
- Accomplishment of work as directed by the Installation Supervisor or Certifying Engineer.
- Manufacture detailed parts from sheet metal.
- Inspect parts manufactured by subcontractors.
- Assemble parts manufactured by subcontractors.
- Apply protective coatings.
- Work closely with the design team.
- Ensure all parts manufactured are in compliance with the design data to ensure safe operation of the vehicles.
- Work as part of a team or individually depending on the specific work packages.
- Operate within a highly regulated environment.
- Maintain a flexible working attitude to deal with changing priorities within the department.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Fabrication.
- Previous experience in a similar role such as Sheet Metal Working, Metal Fabrication, Mechanical Fitter or Automotive repair.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative to high standards.
- Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings and associated data.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Adherence to Health & Safety requirements, including wearing appropriate PPE for each task.
- Clean driving licence.
- Experience with SAP / Envision.
- Ability to work with composites.
- Security clearance – successful candidates will be required to undergo background screening and obtain relevant security clearances, subject to role requirements.
Desirable
- Knowledge of techniques used in manufacturing parts from sheet metal to close tolerance.
- Knowledge of types of fasteners used to assemble sheet metal and components using rivets, mechanical fasteners and adhesive bonding.
