Social Worker – Support & Protection | Altrincham, Stretford & Sale

Salary: £37,280 – £42,839 (Band 7/8). £2,400 market supplement (Level 3).

Join Support & Protection at Trafford Council, working with children and families at Child Protection stage or in Care Proceedings. This is meaningful, long-term work with complex families—focused on safety, stability, and sustainable change.

The Role

• Deliver high-quality, strengths-based social work to children in need, on CP plans, or in care
• Complete clear, analytical assessments and plans
• Work directly with families to reduce risk and achieve lasting change
• Collaborate across multi-agency partnerships
• Represent the Local Authority in court where required
• We are committed to relational, trauma-informed practice—working with families in a high support/high challenge environment

About You

• Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, Degree or equivalent)
• Registered with Social Work England
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in statutory children’s social care
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation & court processes
• Confident managing risk and complex cases
• Car driver (essential)
• Enhanced DBS (Children’s Barred List) required
